FANTASTIC TEAM!!

The World Cup has been a thrilling distraction from recent tragic and dangerous events in different parts of the world.   México, which has participated in every World Cup since 1994, always reaching round 16, had stumbled through qualifications.  Playing extremely well and with obvious joy,  TRI is led by the Miguel Herrera, the exuberant director who became a star because of his unbridled passion for his team and for the game. Sad to see the weeping players and crowd in the knock-out game against Holland.  TRI played one of the best teams in the world, and almost won.  A win would have given a huge emotional boost to a country with 60% poverty and an undeserved amount of bad press.

Also fantastic - the PEACEAnimals team, consisting of  director/ vet tech, Paulina Stettner and doctors Poli and Anthony.  Their work is intense, precise,  and it is superb.  Standing for at least five hours each surgery day in less than ideal spaces, they often have no time to take even a five-minute break.   Since the founding of of PEACEAnimals free mobile spay/neuter clinics, one year ago in June,   here are the results:

June 19, 2013-November 9-2013 - 20 clinics resulting in the sterilization of 1,886 cats and dogs
January 8, 2014-June 21, 2014 - 18 clinics resulting in the sterilization of 1,843
Total clinics in 12 months:  38

Total cats and dogs sterilized in our fist year of operation: 3,729
Average number of animals sterilized per clinic:  97
Approximate cost per clinic:  $1,700 USD

PEACEAnimals would like to increase the number of members on the board of directors. With more board members, we can reduce annual dues.   If you have an interest in helping reduce the number of unwanted births in the cat and dog population and can commit to one meeting (in person or conference call) and "giving or getting" $3,000 USD a year, please contact me.

A SWIM AT LAS GEMELAS BEACH ("TheTwins") WITH A WATERPROOF CAMERA
PARTY BOATS AT LAS ÁNIMAS ("The Spirits") BEACH
Pets for Life, the independent contractors PEACEAnimals employs, was able to secure their own free spay/neuter mobile clinics in several locations in the states of Nayarit and Oaxaca. Local governments and communities provided the funds for these clinics, which relieved PEACEAnimals of having to find funding for 48 surgery weeks a year.
EL CABALLO ("The Horse") BEACH

Dazzlingly beautiful beach breaks between rains - the water is clear, pale emerald green and 88 degrees.  Brown pelicans aren´t disturbed by a few nearby swimmers and voluminous, white pillowed clouds hover above the horizon.

Marina La Cruz de Huanacaxtle
LA CRUZ MARINA
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is a fishing village on the Bay of Banderas with a very nice marina, several good restaurants and plenty of attractive condos and houses. Although it is located in the state of Nayarit, it is only a 30.minute drive from downtown Puerto Vallarta.  Because La Cruz is located on the Bay of Banderas, it is a PEACEAnimals clinic responsibility.

"GASTON" RESCUED AND NEEDS HOME
A little black and white male Terrier/Chihuahua mix that I had seen foraging for food in the bagged trash and garbage that are left at corners for collection.  A neighbor was able to catch him and put the dog in the car with me.  As we drove off, the dog looked uneasy, but then began gently licking my hand, either as a thank-you or a need for moisture or salt.   I took him to Dr. Peña´s clinic for a vet check and gave him the unlikely name of "Gaston."   The 1,040 cost for tests and vaccines was paid for by John Brooks.  Gaston, who is two years old,  walks nicely on a leash and is very pretty and sweet.  He is being boarded at LADRA and available for adoption.  Contact:  bbrischa@hotmail.com

NUEVA INFORMACIÓN DE LAS CLÍNICAS GRATIS EN ESPAÑOL EN NUESTRO WEBSITE - www.peaceanimals.org

CABALLO SUFRIENDO EN BUCERIAS:  Un correo recibido:
