BELLA CASA EN OTRA PLAYA MÁS AL SUR- WISTERIOUS BEACH HOME ON ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL BEACH FURTHER SOUTH |
Went by panga on another day with our two dogs for a swim, walk and lunch to a quiet beach with only one very small restaurant. A few people were having lunch at the white plastic tables and chairs on the sand. Two of them were the daughter of my friend Gabriela Garcia and her boyfriend. Half-a-dozen dogs sat nearby. When I got home, Gaby told me her daughter had seen me and a "very fat dog" whom people were calling "carnitas" (slices of beef). I replied to Gaby that it had been our dog, "Buster," Silence. Laughter.

On Wednesday evening, I heard the first loud, electric click of a solitary cicada in our garden. After seventeen years, what had been a nymph living underground off the juice of roots of trees, emerged as a large insect ready to mate. The cicadas are the first promises of rain, and on Thursday afternoon, it sprinkled in centro Vallarta. The cicada continued to click, but wasn´t answered. More sprinkles on Friday and on Saturday, grey skies with forecast of rain on Sunday.
VILLAS DEL REAL - Thirty minutes northeast to a newish colonia filled with cement homes and offices. No villas. The clinic took place a block off of the busy avenida de los poetas, in a large bodega with a painted poison green wall. On Wednesday, only seven pets were brought in. On Thursday, when I was there, forty dogs and cats had been delivered, including seventeen that (Saint) Elena had collected from neighbors. It was a hot day, and far from the bay, there were no breezes.

Apologies to Troy Valens - blog neglected to mention his same donations for last week´s clinic in colonia linda vista.
DONATIONS TO PEACEANIMALS: None this week.
EDUCATION PROGRAM - Leslie Caratachea presented to 60 studensts at the Manuel Prieto primary school in colonia loma bonita. The school is very close to colonia villas del real, where the clinic was held this week.
LAILA SOS FUND: Maritza Linea has been watching a small, white male dog foraging for food in the garbage and was finally able to catch him. Berenice Guerrero is providing a foster home and Dr. Rendón has been treating the dog for dehydration and malnourishment. The PEACEAnimals "Laila SOS" fund has donated 500 pesos for the rescued dog´s vet care.
CENTRO DE ACOPIO: A friend asked me to help find a dog for one of her former neighbors, so on Tuesday I drove Laura Quiroz to the centro the acopio (local pound). A female Pug had been found tied up to the front gate the night before and was looking very dejected in her small kennel. Laura Quiroz decided that this dog would be perfect for her and her other senior citizen dog. In the car driving back to Laura´s home, the Pug immediately began to wag her tail, snorted a bit and rearranged the towel in the back seat. It was an immediate transformation from a very sad dog to a very happy one. Laura has named her "Macorina," whom she says follows her everywhere.
Also adopted at the acopio while we were there -a beautiful, female grey Pit Bull, to an attractive, young Mexican couple - the husband works at the SPCAPV. The dog was performing jumps of joy with her new family in the acopio´s large, enclosed field. T

Los animales no necesitan tener una camada para completar su ciclo vital, puesto que no existe una relación consciente con la reproducción como parte necesaria de su bienestar emocional.
