AWAY FROM MEXICO

THE CONSERVATORY OF FLOWERS  -GOLDEN GATE PARK - SAN FRANCISCO- ON  FOGLESS, WINDLESS DAY

Sometimes very late at night I hear the excited yipping of coyotes and wonder if it is because they have managed to kill a deer.  I see deer almost daily near homes that sit beneath the rolling, yellow hills in Marin county, California.  They are looking for greenery and for water. The creeks are all dry and the only green in the hills are the leaves in the scattered thickets of oak and manzanita trees.

Santa Cruz is a beach town about two hours south of San Francisco.  The town is famous for the boardwalk amusement park next to a very pretty, long, white sandy beach.   I went one Saturday morning with my son and his wife and their three children, ages 2, 4 and 6.
The amusement park looks like a carnival set for a 1950´s movie.  Pure Americana.  Hot dogs , hamburgers, salt water taffy, popcorn, cotton candy, etc. to eat, games of skill and chance to play with stuffed animals as prizes, and thrilling and not so thrilling rides.  The beach was dotted with colorful sun umbrellas and although the waves were wonderful, no one was in the water.   The day was reminiscent of my own childhood and of more innocent and peaceful times.
SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA

Weather reports for Puerto Vallarta are temperatures in the high 80´s humidty at 86%, an exciting electrical storm and 17 inches of rain in one week.

LAS ARALIAS - If one is going to the Centro de Acopio, Vallarta´s no-kill pound, one passes parque los Sauces in colonia las Aralias.  The colonia is to the east of Costco, and very convenient for pet owners from many other colonias.  Although the park was named after willow trees, there are not many to see.  The clinic took place in Sofi Golzalez´s bodega, where PEACEAnimals has held several clinics.

Candace Shaw brought in a little black female dog on Saturday morning, which is always scheduled as  a half-day clinic.  Her dog was number 31 on the list, and wasn´t the last one to be registered that day.  The black dog had been spotted by Candace and Colette Zary (owner of Colina clinic and Langostinos restaurant)  running in the rain near los muertos beach Tuesday.
RESCATADA POR CANDACE SHAW Y TRAIDA A LA CLÍNICA EN LAS ARALIAS PARA ESTERILIZACIÓN

They were unable to catch her, but on Wednesday about midnight, Candace saw the dog running frantically on the libramiento towards the small tunnel.  Candace stopped the car, got out,  sat on the curb and called to the little black dog.  The dog came to Candace, who couldn´t quite grab her.  As she didn´t have a dog leash or collar with her, Candace improvised by taking off her bra, tying it around the dog´s neck and then was able to walk with it to the parked car.

At the PEACEAnimals,  the lucky rescued dog was found to be pregnant with eight fetuses.  Candace says the dog is 3-4 years old, weighs approximately 25 pounds and is for adoption.  If you would like more information, please contact Candace Shaw via FB.
