GREAT DANE -GREAT HEART

EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING STORM IN PUERTO VALLARTA      photo credit:  Alexandra Karam

GUADALAJARA

An 8 AM departure On Sunday morning morning on the very first-class ETN bus (very comfortable, wide reclining seats with only two on each side of the aisle - WiFi, movies and a not very tasty sandwich and soft drink) for Guadalajara.  I prefer going this way rather than trying to navigate through the city, where we don´t want to do any driving after arriving there.  We´re staying in Tlacquepaque, fifteen minutes away, to see the August 31st launch of the national spay/neuter campaign of Calle Cero, sponsored by Purina and promoted on Azteca TV.   The massive free clinic will take place in la Cofradía, a poor neighborhood of Tlacquepaque.

STERILIZATIONS - This week, Pets for Life, independent contractors with whom PEACEAnimals has a work agreement,  was at a sponsored clinic in la Cruz in Nayarit.  Their numbers are reported to the local government and not to PEACEAnimals.

Sterilizations at PEACEAnimals clinics:  All pet registration forms with signatures of owners or rescuers are submitted by Dr. Poli to the local department of health, with copies to PEACEAnimals.

DONATIONS TO PEACEANIMALS:

Francoise Koster - $100 USD - Francoise and her mother Jacqueline are owners of La
Poubelle Bistro & Bar in Hollywood.  The name intrigued me, so I took a look at the website.  Opened in 1969 by Jacqueline, the bistro has a superb menu...  "We utilize organic, local, small farm produce and meats & sustainable fish whenever possible.  We grow many of our own herbs, greens and vegetables on our own rooftop."

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

PEACE, A 501 (C)(3) has been processing donations for PEACEAnimals.  Amy Welch and her husband Bill, an accountant, have set up a new 501©(3).  Change is effective October 1, 2015.  Explanation  below:

In May, 2013, PEACEMEXICO, part of  the PEACE (USA) foundation,  was dissolved and reorganized as PEACE Punta de Mita, A.C. (A.C. indicates Mexican-government approved charitable status).   PEACE Punta de Mita programs are concentrated in the Punta de Mita-Higuera Blanca area and focus on three categories:  Education, Health/Lifestyle, and Community Pride.

The board of directors of PEACE (USA) recently voted to administer the PEACE (USA)  foundation with donations only supporting the communities of Punta de Mita and Higuera Blanca.   Effective October 1, PEACE (USA) will no longer be administering funds outside those areas.

In September, 2015, Amy Welch, who has served as treasurer of PEACE (USA) and who is a devoted supporter of PEACEanimals,  founded Banderas Bay Charities, Inc.    The Oregon-based foundation  has 501 (c)(3) status and will be supporting PEACEAnimals.

As of October 1, all donations for PEACEAnimals free mobile spay/neuter clinics and education program will be processed through Banderas Bay Charities, Inc.

Checks can be made out to BBC,  Inc. or Banderas Bay Charities and should be earmarked for PEACEAnimals.

Banderas Bay Charities, Inc works with Canadian Children's Shelter of Hope to offer Revenue Canada tax credit for non-animal related missions.

RESCUED AND ADOPTED: "An emaciated six or seven-month old male albino Great Dane/Weimar, who is also deaf and blind., was found in an abandoned house in Tepic, Nayarit by members  of "Adopta un Amigo Tepic."
ENCONTRADO ASÍ EN TEPIC
When I saw the photos and information on FaceBook, I immediately sent an email to Troy Valens, owner of Cheeky Monkey and Sea Monkey restaurants  in Vallarta.  A few years ago Troy had adopted "Albina," now named "Bunny," a two-year old female albino Great Dane who is also deaf and blind.  Troy, who has an enormous heart, emailed back at once saying,

"With our history in taking care of Bunny and knowing the needs she has being blind and deaf, it would sadden me that another dog with the same conditions isn't given a chance to be in a loving home.  I would love to adopt him."
GRAN DANESE/WEIMAR  DE 6-7 MESES- SORDO Y CIEGO - RESCATADO
Y ADOPTADO POR TROY VALENS

EN CASA PUENTE EN TEPIC
Troy said he will probably name this dog "Rabbit,"as he looks almost exactly like his other dog Bunny, and has the same disadvantages.  Rabbit arrives in Vallarta September 1st with Yenny Modad and Leticia. He will be fostered by Gaby Ramirez,  manager of one of Troy´s restaurants until Troy arrives the end of September.  Rabbit will go with him to Oregon and will living a great life on 20 acres in the countryside with six other rescues and loving care.

"RABBIT" (¿ QUIZÁS SU NUEVO NOMBRE?)  EN CASA PUENTE CON LETICIA VELAZQUEZ  EN TEPIC

The fourth little kitten left on my doorstep in a parrot cage.    I almost always have PEACEAnimals business cards with me to hand out wherever I go.  I was at Coscto Tuesday,  and at the check-out counter, asked the pretty young woman if she had a pet, and handed her my card.   She didn´t, but said she wanted to adopt a kitten.  Serendipity!   I told her I had one, and she agreed to let me take it to be neutered in a few weeks.  I delivered the last little abandoned kitten to Cristina Sarahi two days later.  She has named him "Mike."
CRISTINA SARAHI ADOPTÓ EL ÚLTIMO GATITO QUE DEJARON EN FRENTE DE MI CASA  QUEDA LA MAMÁ TODAVIA.  SI LE INTERESA EN UNA CALICO MUY DULCE, FAVOR DE CONTACTARME.

Thank you to Soraya of Puro Gato and to  Lic. Gustavo Javier López López, who had  both offered to foster this kitten.

JOVEN MAMÁ ABANDONADA Y NECESITA HOGAR.  FAVOR DE CONTACTARME.

The pretty mama calico of the four kittens has recovered from the shock of being tossed out with her babies, and is now docile and affectionate.  She will be spayed in three weeks and needs a foster or permanent home.  Please contact me if you are interested.   This is a very nice cat and she has been a devoted mother.  It was sad to see her looking for her last little kitten.  She mewed for days after he had gone to his new home.

ABANDONADA CON SUS 4 BEBÉS. YA SE FUERON EN ADOPCIÓN SUS BEBÉS Y ELLA NECESITA HOGAR.

RESCUED AND NEEDS HOME:

I saw a message and the photo below on FB (Huelitas Catninas) on Friday from Cesar Lopez,  saying that a tiny kitten had been found on the street by a friend of his who couldn´t keep it.  I thought maybe the mama calico could nurse it, so picked up the kitten, whose eyes wouldn´t open because they were so encrusted with pus.  So was its nose.  This crusting is symptomatic of an upper respiratory infection, which is highly contagious amongst felines.   I took the kitten to our vet, Dr. Tamayo, who will put the beautiful female kitten in isolation for two weeks while she is being treated.   After being spayed at a PEACEAnimals clinic, the young kitty will need a good home. If you would like to meet this kitten, please stop by Dr. Tamayo´s clinic in colonia Versalles - Calle Viena 178  - Local ·4,

GATITA TIRADA Y RESCATADA.  ESTÁ EN TRATAMIENTO POR UNA INFECCIÓN DEL SISTEMA DE RESPIRACIÓN CON DR. JUAN TAMAYO.  NECESITA HOGAR EN 2 SEMANAS.

"TYSON" is a 3-4 year-old Lab-mix dog that spent almost two years at the Acopio before Lonna Hull rescued him.  Tyson is vaccinated, neutered and has had several months of behavior training at Tibet Canino with Angel.  Lonna says he is a very happy dog and not at all destructive. He loves to play fetch and catches the ball in mid-air. Tyson loves to run alongside the bicycle on a leash and walks well on a leash.  This great dog is currently in a foster home and needs a permanent home.  Contact:  littlzoo12
