I take our dogs for a walk in el Nogalito, a tiny village about a 15-minute
drive south of centro.

Norbert. The name has always sounded so gentle to me. The meaning in English is “shining from the
north” and in Teutonic, “shines like the sea.”
It was hurricane Norbert that brought the storm and drenching rains
Saturday night, wreaking havoc on the beaches in Puerto Vallarta, many of which
had already been closed because of earlier storms.
After walking the dogs in el Tuito, I drove two minutes south to Punta
Negra, my favorite beach in Vallarta.
What is normally a long stretch of powdery white sand is now completely
covered with large rocks. The lifeguard
looking at the damage said it wouldn´t be a beach for at least another
month.

DAY: Pets for Life, the vet team
PEACEAnimals hires for clinics, was in
León this past week for a veterinary conference. As there is no clinic to report on, am
devoting this blog to dogs.
Brischa
and Ted Borchgrevink, board members and owners of LADRA boarding and sanctuary,
now have over twenty rescue dogs.
Mona, the Pit
Bull mix that I found on the highway, is the only paid boarder.
Because of the overflow of rescues from the
Acopio and the streets, there is no room for boarders. In order to be able to pay the expenses of their sanctuary, the Borchgrevinks need to find homes as soon as possible for the rescues and begin

Open Monday-Saturday from 8 AM-2 PM. 293-3690. The Acopio is now holding adoptions every Saturday from 11 AM-2 PM at Plaza Caracól (back end of building near McDonald´s entrance) and Macro Plaza. Dogs are walked twice a week by volunteers organized by Friends of Puerto Vallarta Animals.

DONATIONS NEEDED: At Dr. Juan Tamayo´s clinic, I saw a woman weeping as she held a little brown and white female puppy she had rescued from the street. Its left eye had almost completely popped out . After examining the puppy, Dr. Tamayo said she had been hit hard on the side of her head by a bat or stick, resulting in a skull fracture. The puppy´s eye will be removed on Monday and the sweet and pretty puppy will need a home. SAMs club
on the left and an exit on the right. Exit across from the
SAMs directly in front of the Chedraui grocery store. Drive five blocks east following the bus route of calle Valle de Mexico, then
go five blocks to Valle Grande and turn right. Drive two blocks south to calle Valle Hermoso. Clinic will be on the
right hand side at the end of this street. IDAF gym/dance studio is directly in front of the house where the clinic is taking place.

October 1-4 - colonia Pitillal - Casa de los Portales - home of Ron Harner and Clint Harris - Calle 327 Alameda - turn right f blocks after the plaza. Yellow walled house.

November 5-8 - No PEACEAnimals clinic- Pets for Life (the vet team employed by PEACEAnimals) will be assisting the JARS/MexiCan clinic in Guayabitos, Nayarit.
