WHERE IS THIS?

BALBOA PARK

TIJUANA IN THE DISTANCE
Standing on a high terrace on Wednesday in Pacific Beach, I could see the pale brown outline of the Tijuana hills in the distance.  Mexico was only a 40-minute drive south.   Later in the morning, sky-ripping thunder was accompanied by over 200 lightning strikes and rain in different parts of San Diego county.  By late afternoon, the weather was balmy and perfect for a picnic in San Diego´s beautiful Balboa Park
EL CID
.

Palm trees, bougainvillea and Spanish architecture looked like a setting in some of the colonial cities in México.
CONCERT AT ORGAN PAVILION IN BALBOA PARK
There was nothing Mexican about the early evening concert and dancing at the baroque outdoor Organ Pavilion.  It was a great tribute to the Supremes.

Back in Puerto Vallarta on Friday, I had missed the wind and rain on Thursday, but was in time for Saturday´s drenching rain and rollicking storm and the days of rain that have followed.
Rocks thrown up by big waves have eliminated most of the sandy beaches off of the malecón.   Not only rocks are strewn along the beaches.

The plastic bottles that were left by vacationers on the beach and then swept into the bay were also thrown back to shore.

INJURED BLACK LAB MIX AT MOJONERAS CLINIC
I was traveling in California, so missed two clinics.  Volunteer Frank Ohly reported that the pretty Boxer wasn´t being held by two people because it was aggressive, but rather because it was so playful.

LOMAS DE COAPINOLE CLINIC
The black Lab mix in photo had suffered a shoulder injury as a result of having been hit by the car. Frank said the family probably couldn´t afford to take care of the injury, but that the dog seemed happy to be at the clinic.
This was a Tuesday-Friday clinic, and because our clinics usually run Wednesday-Saturday, our numbers were lower than expected.
