VALLE DE BANDERAS: The fastest route is to drive north to Bucerias and then head directly east towards the foothills of the Sierra Madres. The road is straight and good, passing palms, mango orchards and gleaming fields of corn. The ride takes approximately one hour from centro Vallarta. In the midstof this beautiful, green rural area is the immaculate town named after its location - Valle de Banderas . "Valley of Flags."

KUERAJPERI YOUTH ORCHESTRA
March 6 performance at 7 pm - Teatro Vallarta
Several years ago, women with machetes in the fiercely independent community of Purepech de Cherán in the mountains of Michoacan, chased off narcos who were cutting down their trees. The youth orchestra, founded with twenty musicians, now consists of more than one hundred eighty members. The music is indigenous, with an emphasis on implementing regional instruments - pirekuas, sones and abajeños. Tickets are 250 pesos and available at www.teatrovallarta.com/ |

ANNUAL ARTISAN MARKET - Every February, vendors from Central America and various Mexican states, including Oaxaca, Chiapas, Guerrero and Michoacan, set up stands under an enormous tent to sell hand embroidered clothing, pottery, jewelry, food items, etc. This is a two-week treasure hunt and there are always treasures. Location is in close proximity to San Javier Hospital. Hours are approximately 9 AM to 9 PM. February 23rd is the last day. Artisans need to be supported so their beautiful handicrafts continue for generations.
